Taxpayer Incentive Award for second half of Shrawan to be announced today

The second fortnightly Taxpayer Incentive Award for Shrawan is set to be announced today. The Inland Revenue Department will organise an event at the Ministry of Finance, where Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle and Finance Secretary Dr Ghanshyam Upadhyaya will announce the winners.

Consumers who engaged in legitimate transactions between Shrawan 16 and 31 will be eligible for today’s draw. According to the department, the number of consumers participating in the incentive scheme surged in its first month. During the 16-day period from Shrawan 16 to 31 alone, 357,149 cash transaction bills were registered (uploaded) for the prize draw.

Previously, only 7,077 consumer transactions had been uploaded during the first 15 days of Shrawan. Meanwhile, the number of consumer transactions automatically entered into the scheme through QR payments increased from 25,608,094 to 32,086,380.

According to the department, the total number of transactions registered for the incentive scheme during the latest 16-day period reached 32,443,229. Of these, 16 winners will be selected today. One winner for each of the 16 days from Shrawan 16 to 31 will receive Rs 133,334. After tax deductions, each winner will receive a net amount of Rs 100,000.

In addition, one winner will receive a bumper prize of Rs 1 million. A 25 per cent tax will be levied on the bumper prize. The event today will also include the presentation of cash prizes to the winners of the first fortnightly award for Shrawan.
