Tara Air plane overshoots Manthali runway; no casualty

A Tara Air aircraft overshoots Manthali Airport runway, on Monday, April 22, 2019.

Ramechhap, April 22

An aircraft belonging to Tara Airlines overshot the runway of Manthali Airport in Ramechhap district of central Nepal on Monday morning.

The incident did not cause any significant loss, but the runway operation has been halted since then, according to officials.

The aircraft, with 9MKK call sign, had arrived at the airport from neighbouring Solukhumbu district at around 9 am while it skidded off the runway during landing. There were 14 passengers aboard.

Officials at the airport office inform that the runway would be shut for aircraft till the overshooting aircraft remains on the edge of the runway.

Since the government began repairing the Tribhuvan International Airport runway earlier this month, flights to Solukhumbu district, where Mount Everest lies, are operated from Manthali Airport.
