Swindler held in Jhapa, he used to cheat people of lakhs vowing to make them CID officers

Kathmandu, February 14

A team from the Metropolitan Police Crime Division has arrested Prem Puri of Belbadi, Morang district, on the charge of swindling people by promising to make them assistant sub-inspectors of Crime Investigation Department.

Acting on complaints from victims like Dipendra Karki of Pipaadin-5, Kanchanpur, the police team arrested arrested Puri from Kakarbhitta of Jhapa district.

Police informed that in order to win the confidence of other peoples, Puri used to distribute duplicate permanent appointment letters to ‘village development committee secretaries’, ‘issued from’ the Saptari district development committee office in Rajbiraj.

Police said Giri used to collect two lakh to seven lakh rupees per person, promising the job of ASI.

The victims later sought help from police after Giri refused to provide them with ‘appointment letters’.
