British College concludes Sustainability Literacy Course

Kathmandu, August 22

The British College (TBC), through its Sustainability Unit and in collaboration with Global Compact Network Nepal as knowledge partner, has successfully concluded the Sustainability Literacy Course, held from August 4 to 15, 2024. The two-week program was designed to deepen understanding and raise awareness of sustainability issues while highlighting their relevance across education, business, and society.

The course saw strong engagement, with nearly 60 regular participants out of 75 registrants. Attendees came from diverse backgrounds, including academia, industry, NGOs, and civil society, making the program a valuable platform for cross-sector dialogue and collaboration.

With the goal of promoting a balance between profit, people, and the planet, the curriculum explored a wide range of topics. It introduced foundational concepts of sustainability and climate science, examined leading frameworks such as ESG, the Triple Bottom Line, Doughnut Economics, and the SDGs, and delved into sustainable finance and supply chain practices. Participants also learned about tools for assessing social and environmental impact, as well as strategies for fostering leadership through actionable roadmaps for sustainable initiatives.

Reflecting on the program’s success, Sunita Basnet, Sustainability Lead at The British College, said: “This course has shown us the power of collaborative learning. The enthusiasm and commitment of our participants reflect Nepal’s readiness to embrace sustainability as a central driver of education and business.”
