Kathmandu, January 22

Four persons died in a pickup truck fall incident in the Surkhet district of Karnali in the wee hours of Sunday.

A Toyota Hilux (Bagmati Pradesh 01-026-Cha 9213) heading towards Birendranagar from Chhinchu of the district fell off the road at Jhuprakhola, Birendranagar-11 of the district along the Ratna Highway.

The victims have been identified as Sagar Shahi (27), Dipendra Jung Shahi (33), Babin Shahi (31), and Rajendra BC (36). Besides Sagar Shahi who was behind the wheel, all other victims were from different villages of the neighbouring Dailekh district.

Seriously injured in the accident, they were rushed to a nearby hospital. Doctors declared three of them dead upon arrival whereas one succumbed to injuries during treatment, DSP Suraj Karki of the Surkhet District Police Office says.

Birendra Raj Shahi, from Bhairavi of Dailekh, is undergoing treatment.

The vehicle fell around 80 metres down the road, injuring all on board.
