Kathmandu, April 1
Ram Bahadur Thapa Badal is set to be elected unopposed as the parliamentary party leader of CPN-UML.
Both Vice-Chair Thapa Badal and Suhang Nembang had staked claims for the post.
A parliamentary party meeting held at the party’s central office failed to reach a consensus, prompting preparations for an election.
According to election coordinator Niraj Acharya, Thapa had already submitted his nomination, and Suhang had also collected nomination papers to file his candidacy.
However, Suhang could not find the required proposers and supporters. As a result, with no competing nomination, Thapa will be elected unopposed.
