Spanish King wants to visit Nepal

Spanish King Felipe VI has expressed his wish to visit Nepal soon.

When the newly appointed Nepali Ambassador to Spain, Dawa Futi Sherpa, presented her credentials to the monarch at the Madrid palace on Friday last week, the king expressed his desire to visit Nepal for the second time. The king said he had already visited Nepal once, though informally.

On the occasion, the king also the ambassador held a brief meeting discussing various dimensions of the bilateral relations, according to the embassy. Congratulating Sherpa on her appointment, he also asked her to convey his greetings to Nepal’s President Bidya Devi Bhandari. He was also curious to know more about reconstruction efforts after the 2015 earthquake and the impacts of global warming on the mountains.

Ambassador Sherpa during the meeting conveyed messages of President Bhandari and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to the king. In particular, she informed the royal about the government’s vision of ‘Prosperous Nepal: Happy Nepali’.

Sherpa thanked the king for warm hospitality in Madrid.
