Kathmandu, February 27

South Korea will take more than 7,000 Nepali migrant workers under the Employment Permit System this year. The number is more than two times the number of migrant workers who went to Korea under the same system in 2017.

Last year, around 3,100 were selected for the employment in Korea under the system.

The Human Resource Department of Korean government has already informed the EPS Korea Section of Nepal government about the ceiling of workers for this year, according to officials.

The Section’s spokesperson Shobhakar Parajuli says over 2,000 personnel will be sent for agricultural jobs whereas other 5,000 will join other productive sectors.

“In the next year, 2019, the number will decrease again,” according to him.
