South African who was climbing Mt Everest without permit brought to Kathmandu

Kathmandu, May 8

A South African national who was reportedly trying to climb the Mount Everest without obtaining the permit from the government has been arrested.

The passport of Ryan Sean Davy has been seized and he has been taken to Kathmandu from the Everest Base Camp for further action, according to Dinesh Bhattarai, Director General at the Department of Tourism.

Liaison officers deployed from the Department had nabbed him at the base camp after an interrogation on Saturday.

Bhattarai says Devy can be banned from visiting Nepal anymore.

Such a decision should be taken from the Cabinet and the Ministry is preparing to send such proposal to the Cabinet, he adds.
