Solukhumbu: ‘No vote’ campaigners in Tingla boycott parliamentary polls

Tingla village in Solukhumbu district

Solukhumbu, November 26

The Tingla village in Solukhumbu district which had boycotted the second phase of local level elections on June 28 is likely to continue the boycott in today’s provincial and federal parliamentary elections as well.

Poll officials in the district have said no one from Tingla has come to the voting centres. The Election Commission had set five voting centres in Tingla. Staff at these centres have been waiting for voters.

Locals in Ward 6 of Necha Salyan Rural Municipality have been protesting the decision to make it a part of Necha Salyan. They demand that the village be included in the Solu Dudhkunda Rural Municipality.

There are total 945 households.

Meanwhile, voting in other parts of the district is ongoing smoothly and peacefully, says DSP Resham Parajuli.

There are 125 voting stations in the district, according to Chief Returning Officer Narayan Prasad Subedi.
