Committee formed to find place for Kathmandu airport’s domestic terminal

A six-member committee of experts has been formed to study and find out a suitable place for the construction of domestic terminal of Kathmandu airport.

Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Rabindra Adhikari has formed the committee under the leadership of Engineer Kamal Kumar KC.

The team comprises of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal Directors Dhruba Das Bhochhibhoya and Baburam Paudel, Deputy Directors Suvarna Upadhyay and Sitaram Bhandari and an official Nala Bikram Thapa.

Minister Adhikari had visited Nagidanda, Chisapani and Devisthan near Dhulikhel of Kavre on Tuesday to observe the area for the construction of an alternative airport.

Minister Adhikari has directed the committee to study these three places or suggest other suitable destinations and submit a detailed report within 15 days, informed spokesperson of the Ministry, Ghanashyam Upadhyay.

Keeping the troubles faced by the passengers in mind, the government for a while has been looking for a suitable destination to construct an alternative airport with an aim to minimise the air traffic at the sole international airport of the country, Tribhuvan International Airport.
