Silwal accuses Home Secretary of putting his resignation on hold under PM’s pressure

Former DIG Nawaraj Silwal joins the CPN-UML on Friday, October 6, 2017.

Kathmandu, October 8

Former Nepal Police DIG Nawaraj Silwal, who has recently joined the CPN-UML party, has accused the Secretary at Ministry of Home Affairs, Lok Darshan Regmi, of putting his resignation on hold under the Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba’s pressure.

After Silwal joined politics on Friday, some people have raised voice that action be taken against him as he joined politics before his resignation was approved.

But, Silwal says Regmi deliberately put the papers on hold though the Inspector General Prakash Aryal had already forwarded his papers to the Ministry for approval.

Though Home Minister Janardan Sharma and State Minister Shyam Kumar Shrestha asked Regmi about the resignation, he lied to them saying he had not received the resignation, according to a source.

After knowing that some conspiracy was being hatched against him, Silwal had hurried to join the party, according to the source.

Silwal had resigned from the police organisation on September 12 after the Supreme Court upheld the government decision to appoint Aryal to the position.  Earlier, he had demanded that he be appointed to the top post.
