Kathmandu, September 30
Leaders and cadres aligned with Nepali Congress leader Dr Shekhar Koirala are set to participate in the ward conventions being organised by the faction led by former party president Sher Bahadur Deuba.
Although Shekhar Koirala himself has maintained a neutral position, leaders and cadres close to him will participate in the conventions beginning Thursday.
Dinesh Chandra Thapaliya, Koirala’s personal secretary, confirmed that leaders and cadres from Koirala’s group would participate in the ward conventions.
“Some exercised their own discretion and participated in the previous convention. Now some will exercise their own discretion and participate in the convention beginning tomorrow,” he said.
The central election committee formed by the Deuba faction has directed district election committees to complete the ward conventions from Thursday through Saturday.
Ekraj Pokhrel, coordinator of the central election committee, confirmed that instructions had been issued to the district committees to complete the ward-level conventions within the three-day period.
