The Ministry of Information and Communications has appointed Joint Secretary Rabi Lal Sharma as acting chairman of the Film Development Board, tasking him with overseeing the board’s work until a permanent chairman is appointed.
Ministry spokesperson Rabindra Paudyal said the ministerial-level decision assigning Sharma the responsibility was made on Tuesday. Sharma took charge of the position starting Wednesday.
“He has been given the responsibility to handle the work until a chairman is appointed,” Paudyal said.
Paudyal added that the process to appoint a permanent chairman will begin soon.
“The secretary is currently away. There’s been some delay due to the floods and other factors. The process for appointing a chairman through open competition will begin soon,” he said.
The chairman’s post has been vacant since Dinesh DC’s term ended on August 27.
