Kathmandu, August 21
Police have arrested Pramit Patel, who had been on the run after being accused of killing a young man at Valley Boys Hostel in Shankhamul, Kathmandu.
Twenty-two-year-old Basanta Kalathoki of Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan City-17, Dang, was fatally attacked with a sharp weapon at the hostel in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-10, Shankhamul.
Police said Kalathoki was attacked and beaten by 18-year-old Shekhar Yadav of Kalaiya Sub-Metropolitan City-3, Bara, and 20-year-old Pramit Patel, both of whom were staying at the same hostel.
Kalathoki, who sustained serious injuries in the incident, was taken to the Civil Service Hospital in Minbhawan for treatment. He was declared dead by doctors during treatment after suffering severe injuries to his head and neck, according to police.
Police had already taken Yadav into custody and were investigating the incident.
Patel had fled following the incident. He was arrested from Bhaise in Makwanpur in coordination with the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Teku.
SSP Santosh Khadka of the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office said Patel is being brought to Kathmandu.
Further investigation into the incident is underway, police said.
