The family of a Nepali youth seriously injured in a road accident in Poland has accused the government of failing to take adequate steps to bring him back to Nepal.
Amitkumar Chaudhary of Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City-16, Sunsari, was seriously injured in a road accident in Poland. His family said the Nepal government has shown little concern about his rescue and repatriation.
According to his family, Chaudhary went to Poland three years ago for foreign employment. He was seriously injured in a road accident on Baisakh 5 and is currently receiving treatment at the Regional Hospital in Sosnowiec City, Poland, according to Parsuram Dhimal, who is in Poland.
Chaudhary’s wife, Usha Chaudhary, appealed to the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) Poland for assistance on Ashadh 19. She said she had repeatedly requested help from the Foreign Employment Board, Ministry of Labour and Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but the government had not responded adequately.
Usha said the family’s financial situation does not allow them to cover the costs of repatriation, including airfare, which forced her to seek help from the NRNA.
Lawmaker Ashok Kumar Chaudhary had also raised the issue in Parliament, but the family said the government has yet to respond.
Meanwhile, NRNA Poland has started collecting donations to bring Chaudhary back to Nepal through the “Bring Amitkumar Chaudhary Home” campaign.
