Kathmandu, July 2
A UML candidate running for rural municipality chairperson on Achham’s Charupati in mid-western Nepal won the race by just one vote.
Harka Bahadur Saud of the UML defeated the Nepali Congress’ Bhim Bahadur Saud by a single vote. While Harka Bahadur received 3,138 votes, Bhim Bahadur received 3,137 votes, the district returning officer said.
The post of vice-chair was, however, won by the Nepali Congress’ Maya Kunwar. She had a wider margin a victory. Kunwar received 3,173 votes while her nearest competitor Sushila Bogati garnered 3,101 votes.
