Kimathanka, September 5
A person was killed and ten others were injured in a truck accident in Chichila rural municipality-1 in the Sankhuwasabha district last night.
A mini truck (Province 1-02-001 Kha 8083) crashed at Patle of Chichila-1. It was en route to Khandbari from Phyaksinda of Makalu rural municipality-5 after transporting vegetables.
Driver Janak Pandey (29) of Leguwa of Mahalaxmi municipality-6, Dhankuta district died on the spot, according to District Police Office Chief DSP Laldhwaj Subedi.
Among those injured in the accident, condition of three is said to be critical. They are Bablu Magar (29) of Khandbari municipality-7, Rahul Malakar (32), and Rocky Kumar from Assam, India. They have been rushed to Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan, following the rescue.
Among the injured, eight Indian nationals are the workers for the Arun Hydropower Project. Among the injured, three have already returned home after treatment.
The body of the driver was retrieved this morning only as it got trapped under the truck. It has been brought to the District Hospital, Khandbari, for a post-mortem.
