Samsung Galaxy A72 is a mid-range smartphone from Samsung that has recently been launched in Nepal.

Samsung Galaxy A72 comes with a glass front, a plastic back and a plastic frame build. Design-wise, on the front, it has a punch-hole display and on the back, there is a camera module housed together with an LED flash. The glass front of the phone is protected by Gorilla Glass 5. It has an under-display fingerprint sensor and the phone is also IP67 dust and water-resistant certified.

It features a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display having a maximum resolution of 1,080*2,400 pixels and can reach a peak brightness of up to 800 nits. The always-on display has a refresh rate of 90Hz.

Cameras

Samsung Galaxy A72 houses a quad-camera setup. The 64MP main camera on the back is put together with a 12MP ultrawide, 8MP telephoto and 5MP macro lens. On the front, there is a 32MP camera for taking impressive selfies.

The 64MP camera can capture high-resolution photos and also the 12MP ultrawide camera has a 123° degrees FOV, which means it can capture some amazing wide landscape photos. For portraits, the 5MP macro sensors should just do fine.

Both cameras on the front and back can capture 4K resolution videos at 30fps. The rear camera has the option to capture videos in 60fps but is limited to 1080p resolution only.

Performance and battery life

Samsung Galaxy A72 runs on Android 11 with One UI 3.1 on top. The phone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G chipset while the graphics are handled by Adreno 618. This specification should be able to handle multitasking without any lags and provide a decent gaming performance.

The phone is backed up by a 5,000mAh non-removable battery and supports 25W fast charging. This power should be enough to enjoy your daily activities and not worry about the battery.

Storage, connectivity and other features

Samsung Galaxy A72 comes with a single RAM variant in Nepal whereas there are two internal storage options. The buyer can choose between 128GB and 256Gb variants of internal storage. There is an option of expanding the storage with a microSD card, but the phone does not provide a dedicated slot for it.

For connectivity, the phone supports dual sims, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0 and is also NFC enabled. The phone has a USB Type-C 2.0 and supports FM Radio as well. For audio, the phone provides a 3.5mm headphone jack and has dual stereo speakers for a better audio experience.

The price of the Samsung Galaxy A72 is Rs 51,999 for 8/128GB and Rs 56,999 for 8/256GB variants.

Verdict

So, Samsung Galaxy A72 is yet another A-series mid-range smartphone from Samsung. It shares a similar design with their mid-range phone, Galaxy A52 5G. The camera modules on the back and the front look exactly similar. They are even released with the same four colour options.

Design-wise, A72 is a lot heavier and thicker than its predecessor Galaxy A71. They have the same 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display, but A72 has a higher refresh rate.

Samsung A72 features a Snapdragon 720G chipset which is good, but not the best in this category. It should be able to perform good but can be tricky when you use high graphics games and apps at higher resolutions.

Cameras are something to look forward to on this phone. It features a massive 64MP quad-camera setup. The photos from the cameras look good and are one of the best in this category. The 123 degrees 12MP ultrawide lens can also be very handy for capturing landscapes or large group photos. And also, it has a 32MP front camera that captures awesome selfies. The audio quality also enhances the desirability of the phone.

Considering the price, Samsung Galaxy A72 is a good smartphone from Samsung but there are better options too in the market.
