Sajha Yatayat welcomes first semi-low floor bus to its fleet

Kathmandu, February 5

Sajhya Yatayat, a government backed transport company operating in Kathmandu, has welcomed its first semi-low floor bus to its fleet.

The bus, manufactured by Ashok Leyland India, will soon ferry passengers around the Kathmandu valley, the company said. Sajha spent around Rs 3.5 million for the bus, which can only be run on uniform surfaces without potholes.

Sajha Yatayat has ordered 20 more city buses from the same manufacturer. Kathmandu and Lalitpur Metropolitans provided Rs 50 million and Rs 10 million for the procurement respectively.

The new semi-low floor bus will ply the Bansbari-Patan route, said Sajha CEO Mahendra Raj Pandey. “It will be easier for people with disabilities to board the bus. We are planning to run the bus on the said route to connect hospitals such as Neuro, Teaching, Kanti, Bir, Alka and Patan.
