‘Sacked’ NRA CEO Bhusal barred from attending Baluwatar meeting

National Reconstruction Authority CEO Yubaraj Bhusal

Kathmandu, July 5

A day after the Cabinet decided to scrap political appointments made by previous Sher Bahadur Deuba-led government from August 30, 2017 till January 2, 2018, National Reconstruction Authority’s Chief Executive Officer Yubaraj Bhusal has been barred from attending a meeting at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar.

Former Secretary Bhusal, who happens to be a close relative of Nepali Congress senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel, was appointed to the top position of post-earthquake reconstruction supervision body on August 23 last year.

Earlier, a meeting of the NRA Advisory Council, to be headed by the Prime Minister, was scheduled at the PM’s residence in Baluwatar for 10 am today, and Bhusal had gone there with his team. However, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli postponed the meeting minutes before it was scheduled to begin and ‘disrespectfully’ forced Bhusal to return.

Staff at Oli’s secretariat told Bhusal that he was sacked by the Cabinet decision yesterday, after which he apparently expressed his desire to meet the PM. Oli, however, did not give him any time.
