The government says it still has Rs 215.8 million in the Covid fund. However, it does not have any plan on how to spend it.

According to the details made public by the Financial Comptroller General Office, the government spent Rs 1.49 billion from the fund. Of that amount, Rs 244 million has been spent this fiscal year.

The government had established the fund to deal with the pandemic in early 2020. As the impact of the pandemic is on the wane now, the money has been left unused.

It is likely that the government will now transfer the money from the Covid fund to other purposes.
