Resident doctors of TUTH support Dr Govinda KC’s demands, shut hospital’s outpatients department

Resident doctors of the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital have launched a movement demanding protection of the live of doctor on hunger strike, Dr Govinda KC and fulfillment of his demands for reforms in the public health sector.

The residents have shut the hospital’s Outpatients’ Department from Friday. Residents and other medical science students have decided to launch a strident movement together.

Resident Doctors’ Association said they have announced a phasewise movement for protection of Dr KC’s life and fulfillment of his demands as authorities concerned have not taken any step towards this end.

As part of their protest, residents had been working by wearing black arm-bands.

In the latest round of hunger strike, Dr KC has been holding fast for 13 consecutive days. His health is deteriorating.
