Out of those arrested during a late-night birthday party for gangster Chakre Milan, also known as Milan Gurung, 28 individuals have been released, while 19 have been remanded for further investigation.
They will remain in custody for at least seven days. The Kathmandu District Administration Office has granted permission to keep them in custody for seven days for investigation. They were arrested last night from a hotel in Maharajgunj.
The arrests were made during a joint operation by the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office and the Kathmandu District Police. According to SP Kuldeep Chand, 19 individuals, including Chakre Milan, have been sent for remand under charges of public disorder.
As per legal procedure, cases involving first-time offenders of public misconduct fall under the jurisdiction of the Chief District Officer. Those remanded for investigation include Ganesh Bahadur Bogati, Nirajan Poudel, Roshan Subedi, Rajesh Khadka, Sandeep KC, Rahul Khadka, Yamu Poudel, Saurav Sunar, Dilliram Kandel, Ritik Lama, Chandradev Karki, Jeet Bahadur Lama, Prakash Gole, Amir Ale Magar, Uttam Maharjan, Pranish Ketal, Raju Pariyar, and Safal Shahi.
Police said the arrests were made due to late-night disturbances caused during the celebration. Some of the detainees were reportedly hotel guests or individuals unrelated to the incident.
“Various types of individuals were taken into custody. After screening, those not involved were released,” said SP Chand.
