The Redmi Note 13 is the latest budget addition from Redmi. The smartphone is the base model of the Redmi Note 13 series which includes the mid-range option Redmi Note 13 Pro and the premium mid-range option the Redmi Note 13 Pro+. The Note series from Redmi is quite popular for its premium design and specs at a budget and mid-range option.

The Redmi Note 13 is the successor of last year’s Redmi Note 12. There are a few design changes along with some spec upgrades. Let us see what the smartphone offers.

Design and display

The Redmi Note 13 has a few changes from its predecessor the Redmi Note 12. It has a flat back and frame. The frame has a matte textured finish whereas the back has a shiny matte and slightly textured but smooth finish.

The Star Sand White colour of the smartphone has a wavy pattern giving the phone a much more premium finish. The camera module houses the rear dual camera setup with a matte finish and has increased in size with a round-edged square in comparison to the Note 12. The ring of the camera sensors is also bumped a bit.

On the front, it has a hole punch cutout display which houses the selfie camera. The bezels around the display are fairly sized like in most budget smartphones. The Redmi Note 13 features a vibrant AMOLED display with 1 billion colours. The 6.67-inch screen covers about 88.9 per cent of the phone’s front with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,400 pixels and a pixel density of approximately 395 ppi. It also has a 120Hz refresh rate and brightness of up to 1000 nits at peak. For protection, it uses Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and also has IP54 dust and splash resistance.

Performance and storage

The Redmi Note 13 is powered by the Mediatek Dimensity 6,080 chipset built on a 6-nanometer architecture. Its octa-core CPU comprises two high-performance Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.4 GHz and six energy-efficient Cortex-A55 cores running at 2.0 GHz. The Mali-G57 GPU handles the graphics processing, providing a decent user experience. It runs on Android 13 with MIUI 14.

It is available in three RAM options, 6 GB, 8 GB and 12 GB. But only the 6 GB and 8 GB variants might be available in the Nepali market. In terms of storage, the 6 GB option is paired with the 128 GB option and the 8 GB option is paired with the 128 GB and 256 GB option.

Camera

The Redmi Note 13 is equipped with a rear dual-setup camera system with a 100 MP ultra-clear main camera. This camera features 0.64μm pixels and 9-in-1 pixel binning, resulting in large 1.92μm effective pixels. Additionally, there’s a 2 MP depth of field camera that enhances the background blur.

The rear camera has features such as super night scene, HDR, portrait mode, panorama mode, film filter, document mode, ID card copying mode, AI watermark, film watermark, AI camera, timed continuous shooting, voice-activated photography and tilt shift. It supports video shooting at 1,080p and 720p at 30fps respectively with options like time-lapse photography, short video, slow motion and voice subtitles.

The Redmi Note 13 features a 16 MP selfie camera at the front. The front camera offers various functions including AI beauty, portrait mode, HDR, soft light ring, gesture photo, and timed continuous shooting. When it comes to video, the front camera supports shooting in 720P and 1,080P at 30fps.

Battery and others

The Redmi Note 13 has a 5,000mAh battery, ensuring ample power throughout the day. For charging, it supports 33W fast charging through a wired connection. In terms of connectivity, it offers Wi-Fi on both 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies and is equipped with Bluetooth 5.3 for wireless interactions.

The phone supports dual SIM cards. For audio, it features a mono speaker and a 3.5mm audio jack. In terms of sensors, it has an ambient light sensor, acceleration sensor, gyroscope, electronic compass, infrared remote control, and distance sensor.

As for the pricing of the Redmi Note 13 in Nepal is expected to cost Rs 24,000 for the 6/128GB variant, Rs 27,000 for the 8/128GB variant and Rs 30,000 for the 8/256GB variant.
