Record-breaking Rs 165 billion remittance inflow in a single month

Nepal received a record Rs 165.3 billion in remittances in just one month, according to data released by Nepal Rastra Bank. The figure, recorded in the Nepali month of Baisakh (mid-April to mid-May 2025), marks the highest monthly inflow of remittances ever.

This is the first time Nepal has received such a large amount in a single month. With this, the total remittance inflow in the first 10 months of the current fiscal year 2081/82 BS has reached Rs 1.356 trillion.

According to the central bank’s report published on Tuesday, remittances increased by 13.3 per cent compared to the same period last fiscal year. In contrast, the growth rate during the same period last year was higher, at 16.9 percent.

In Baisakh last year, the remittance inflow stood at just Rs 115.99 billion. In US dollar terms, remittance inflows grew by 10.5 percent to USD 9.96 billion, while the growth rate in the previous fiscal year was 14.8 per cent.
