Rautahat, November 12
A 17-year-old girl was shot dead while she was asleep in her own house in Laukaha, Madhav Narayan municipality-7 of Rautahat district in southern Nepal last night.
The victim has been identified as Amrita Kumari Sah, the daughter of local Ram Ayodhya and Sita Devi. Police say she was shot at her right temple and breathed her last on the spot.
The victim’s mother says the culprits entered the room as soon as she went to the toilet outside her house, leaving the door open. After hearing fires, Sita said she came out of the toilet to find the teenage daughter injured. She died within a few minutes, according to the mother.
Police had rushed to the incident site as soon as they were informed of the case.
Amrita was married in March but had had a divorce after a few months, hence, police suspect her murder was connected to her relationship.
DSP Bharat Shrestha, the District Police Office spokesperson, says the investigators have already identified the culprit, but further investigation is still underway.
