Ram Chandra Paudel: Deuba thinks breaching statue is bravery

Nepali Congress leader Ram Chandra Paudel

Kathmandu, August 12

Nepali Congress senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel has commented that his party’s chief Sher Bahadur Deuba thinks breaching the party charter is a brave act.

Paudel’s comment comes at a time when Deuba has unilaterally nominated various party members in various departments without consulting him. The Paudel side has been claiming that such appointments are against the party statue as the party has already started a procedure for the next generation convention which would elect the new central working committee in the party.

“But, our president thinks the farther he can breach the charter, the stronger president he becomes,” Paudel said in an interview on Wednesday, “But, his bravery has damaged the party; it has hurt democracy.”

Paudel, an archrival of Deuba in the party, said the next convention should find an alternative to him but refused to clarify if he would contest for the party president.
