Provincial govts spent Rs 1.85 billion for new vehicles in one year

Seven provincial governments of the country have collectively spent Rs 1.85 billion to purchase new vehicles for their officials in past one year, their data records show.

It has been found that some provinces even transferred budget allocated to other headings to purchase the vehicles.

Province 2, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, which are among least developed and least resourceful provinces,  are also ahead  of others in purchasing the vehicles.

Province 3 and Gandaki are considered more resourceful provinces, but they have spent relatively less in the vehicles.

Province 2 spent Rs 340 million, the highest among the provinces. Likewise, Province 1 spent Rs 320 million. The provincial government had transferred Rs 50 million from other budget titles for the vehicles.

Sudurpaschim, Province 5 and Karnali spent Rs 300 million, Rs 290 million  and Rs 240 million respectively.

Province 3 spent Rs 230 million.

Gandaki province spent the least, just Rs 123 million, for the vehicles.
