Provincial govts presenting annual budget plans today

Kathmandu, June 15

All seven provincial governments of the country are presenting their annual budget statements for the next fiscal year 2020/21 on Monday.

This is the second time that the provincial government are announcing the budget plans after the country adopted a federal model as per the 2015 constitution. The provincial governments were formed in early 2018.

Sources in the provincial governments say they have set different priorities for the next year as per their needs. Considering the impact of Covid-19 crisis, health and agriculture sectors are likely to be prioritised by all the governments.

Whereas the constitution stipulates that the federal government should introduce its annual budget on Jeth 15, the Intergovernmental Fiscal Arrangement Act stipulates the date of Asar 1 for provincial budget statements.
