Provincial, federal polls to be held on November 26; announcement likely today

Kathmandu, August 21

The government is preparing to announce the date for elections to the Provincial Assembly as well as the federal House of Representatives on Monday.

It is most likely that November 26 will be announced as the date for both the polls.

Though the Election Commission had suggested that the polls be held in two phases, the government is planning to announce the single date owing to suggestions from political parties.

The Commission had also demanded that the dates be announced in the third week of August.

A Cabinet meeting is underway to make the announcement.
