The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index rose slightly by 0.47 points on Sunday, closing at 2,655 points. While trading volume declined compared to the previous session, market sentiment appeared positive.
The total turnover stood at Rs 11.44 billion, down from NPR 12.51 billion recorded in the previous trading day.
Prices increased for 90 companies, while 157 saw their values decline. The hydropower sector continued to attract investor interest. After surging 5.53 per cent last week, the sector posted a 0.96 percent gain on Sunday, dominating the list of top gainers.
However, it was the production sector that recorded the highest gain of the day, advancing 1.47 per cent. The trade sector rose 1.08 per cent, development banks gained 0.48 per cent, and the non-life insurance sector edged up by 0.07 per cent.
Meanwhile, several sectors posted losses: banking was down 0.44 per cent, finance fell 0.59 per cent, investment dropped 0.76 per cent, life insurance declined 0.54 per cent, microfinance slipped 0.31 per cent, hotels and tourism eased 0.06 percent, and the others group decreased 0.46 per cent.
Three companies hit the daily upper circuit limit with a 10 per cent gain: Pure Energy, Green Development Bank, and Chhyangdi Hydropower. Barun Hydropower and Union Hydropower also saw significant increases of 9.84 per cent and 9.34 per cent respectively.
The five most actively traded companies of the day were Sanima Mai Hydropower, Ngadi Group Power, Butwal Power Company, Radhi Bidyut, and Mountain Energy.
