Prime Minister distributes awards to Women’s Volleyball Players

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli distributed awards to the players who participated in the ‘CAVA Women’s Volleyball Nations League 2024’ competition.

At a programme held today at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar, awards were given to 14 players, including team captain Aruna Shahi, with each receiving Rs 300,000. The head coach, Jagadish Prasad Bhatt, received Rs 200,000, while assistant coach Bharat Yadav, manager Nilam Singh Bajracharya, and physiotherapist Lokendra Kunwar each received Rs 120,000.

The competition, held in Kathmandu from August 1 to 7, saw Nepal achieve an impressive second-place finish.

On July 31, the Cabinet decided to award a total of Rs 4.76 million to the participating players, coaches, and staff. Earlier, on August 18, Prime Minister Oli had discussed the development of volleyball with the participating players and coaches.

Expressing his happiness over the success of the women’s volleyball team so far, Prime Minister Oli encouraged them to work hard to set new records in the future.

Recalling his decision to upgrade the Kirtipur sports ground within 300 days when he took office, Oli assured that it would be implemented. He also directed the relevant authorities to prepare well for the upcoming 10th National Games.

The Prime Minister expressed regret that the Dasharath Stadium became muddy during recent matches and instructed that the stadium be used only for appropriate sporting events and not be misused for other purposes.
