Priests of the famous Janaki Temple in Janakpurdham, the capital of Province 2, have decided to open the temple for devotees from Sunday.

The priests made the decision when the federal government is yet to lift the restriction on visits to temples imposed six months ago so as to control the coronavirus infection in the country. Neither have provincial and local governments been consulted to make the decision.

Ram Roshan Das, a priest of the temple, however, says the number of devotees visiting the temple is way low in comparison to the time before March.

“Around 300 to 400 visit the temple daily. They are locals of Janakpur. People from other places are yet to come,” he informs, claiming needful safety distance has been maintained inside the temple for worships.

However, crowds have begun to appear around the temple to sell the goods required for a worship.
