Kathmandu, November 11
Nearly two weeks after the previous increase, the government once again has hiked the prices of petroleum products including petrol, diesel and cooking gas. The increment this time seems a big one compared to past events.
The government-owned fuel distribution monopoly, Nepal Oil Corporation, informs the new prices have come into effect from Wednesday midnight.
Here are the details of the hike:
Product | Previous price | New price |
Petrol | Rs 133/litre | Rs 136/litre |
Diesel/Kerosene | Rs 116/litre | Rs 119/litre |
Cooking gas (LPG) | Rs 1,500/cylinder | Rs 1,575/cylinder |
Aviation fuel | Rs 96/litre (Domestic) USD 853/kilolitre (International) | Rs 101/litre (Domestic) USD 895/kilolitre (International) |
Even after the adjustment, the company claims it will incur a loss of Rs 2.62 billion in the next 15 days.
