President Ram Chandra Paudel is scheduled to address the nation at 3:30 pm today. According to his press adviser, Kiran Pokharel, the president will address the nation after returning from a visit to flood- and landslide-affected areas of Rasuwa and Nuwakot. His address will be broadcast live on Nepal Television.
President Paudel visited the disaster-hit areas earlier today to assess the situation. During the visit, he received briefings from the Nepal Army and other officials on the extent of the damage and the humanitarian crisis caused by the disaster.
The floods and landslides on August 26 caused extensive loss of life and property in Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading.
According to the latest figures, 1,355 people have died in the disaster, while 4,996 remain missing.
