Kathmandu, May 30
President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Thursday conferred the Constituent Assembly Medal on all members of the first and second Constituent Assembly formed in 2008 and 2013 respectively.
Those conferred the medal includes President Bhandari herself.
Likewise, President Bhandari also awarded Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara, Deputy Prime Minister Upendra Yadav and several others.
The Home Ministry had published a list of 1,109 leaders for the award.
The list had also included three leaders of the Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’-led Maoist party, namely Khadka Bahadur Bishwakarma, Santosh Budha and Uma Bhujel. The government has banned activities of the party.
They, however, did not attend the function.
