Indian government honours Nepali entrepreneur, Prakriti Mainali

Kathmandu, March 31

The government of India and the Federation of Indian Women Entrepreneurs have honoured Nepali entrepreneur, Prakriti Mainali, with a prestigious award.

Mainali last week received the prestigious Priyadarshani: Made a Difference Award – 2022 at a ceremony in New Delhi, India. The award was conferred on her by Indian Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Minister Narayan Tatya Rane.

It has been said that Mainali, the founder of Shakti Milan, a company that upcycles used rice sacks into bags to export them abroad, was awarded for her efforts in promoting women’s entrepreneurship culture in Nepal, particularly among the disadvantaged women communities for their freedom from the fear of abuse and violence through economic opportunities.

Prakriti Mainali is also a recipient of the National Youth Talent Award 2021 by the Nepal government. She is also serving as a board member of the Social Entrepreneurship Fund under the Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens in Nepal.
