Prakanda Arrests: Supreme Court expresses concern

Kathmandu, September 3

The Supreme Court has expressed concern over Nepal Police’s move to repeatedly arrest CPN (Biplov) leader Khadga Bahadur Biswhokarma (Prakanda).

A bench of justices Sapna Pradhan Malla and Tanka Bahadur Moktan has also ordered police to set free the former minister, who is now custody in Nuwakot.

Bishwokarma has been freed by the Supreme Court twice in the last few weeks. However, every time he is let go, police re-arrest him and file separate charges against him.
The bench said that officials who should respect and implement orders from the court are disrespecting orders time and again, and this is a matter of concern.
