A special team from Kathmandu police sealed the medicines kept at Lomus and took Pandey’s sons Prabal Jung Pandey and Prachol Jung Pandey under control.

It raided Lomus, sealed medicines and got hold of the company’s general manager Nil Raj Acharya under control.

In course of the raid at Lomus’ godown and office based in Uttardhoka, we found that the company was selling medicines at higher rates ignoring government-set rates, SSP Bikram Singh Thapa said.

During the raid at Deurali-Janta’s godown and office at Hattisar, police found the company resorting to a similar practice.

About seven months ago, the government had published a notice in the national gazette, fixing the rates of essential medicines. The two companies had ignored the government directive to sell drugs at fixed rates from the month of Magh.

Thapa said: We raided the pharmaceuticals together with Kathmandu CDO (district administration office) upon finding they were selling drugs at higher rates by ignoring the government-set rates.

He said they will move the court against these pharmaceuticals as per the Black Marketing Act.
