Poco C40 has a glass front, plastic back and a plastic frame build. It has a waterdrop notch on the front and a big camera module on the back that includes the fingerprint sensor as well as Poco branding. This is a similar design seen on Xiaomi’s own Poco X4 Pro and M4 Pro launched a little while ago. The phone has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for biometrics.

The phone weighs 203 grams and is 9.1mm thick. The presence of the phone will surely be felt in the pocket due to its size. It is available in three colours: midnight black, Pacific blue and Caribbean green.

On the front is 6.7-inch IPS LCD panel with a resolution of 720*1,650 pixels and 269 PPI density. The display on the phone also supports a 60Hz refresh rate while achieving a peak brightness of up to 400 nits. Furthermore, the display has a Gorilla Glass 3 protection and also features reading mode and colour temperature adjustment. There is also a face unlock feature on the phone.

There is a very minimalistic camera setup on the phone. There is a dual-camera setup on the back while a single sensor is used on the front. The 13MP main camera on the back is accompanied by a 2MP macro lens. On the front is a 5MP selfie shooter.

Both cameras on the front and back are capable of capturing 1080p resolution videos at 30fps.

Poco C40 runs on Android 11 with MIUI 13 on top. The phone is powered by a new JLQ JR510 (11nm) chipset. Most of the Xiaomi phones were powered by either Qualcomm Snapdragon or Mediatek chipsets, but this is the first smartphone to have a different chipset than the rest of the Xiaomi family.

Talking about the storage on the phone, it comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The user can further expand the memory with a microSD card, for which the phone has a dedicated slot.
