PM warns police personnel against flattery

Kathmandu, February 12

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has told officials and personnel of Nepal Police not to act as brokers and flatterers in order to serve their vested interests.

Oli says the national police organisation should keep its promotion and transfer system fair so that no one can raise any question against it.

Speaking at a graduation ceremony of Nepal Police officials in Kathmandu on Tuesday, the Prime Minister said, “Police have to fulfill their duties honestly.”

Likewise, he told top officials of the police organisation to develop a just system to facilitate promotions and transfers. He was of the view that no personnel should feel discriminated by the organisation.

Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa was also present at the function. He said that the government was committed to protecting police against any political interference.

On the occasion, newly appointed 95 police inspectors were sworn in.
