Kathmandu, October 20
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda met Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba at the latter’s residence in Budhanilkantha, Kathmandu, on Thursday.
PM Prachanda, who is also chair of the ruling CPN-Maoist Centre, had gone all the way to Budhanilkantha to seek support of the ruling coalition partner for passage of the impeachment motion against CIAA Chief Commissioner Lok Man Singh Karki through the Parliament.
On his part, NC President Deuba replied to PM that he alone cannot decide on the impeachment motion against Karki.
Right after meeting Deuba, Prachanda attended a meeting of the Maoist headquarters at Lazimpat, where he put what Deuba said to him during the one-on-one at Budhanilkantha.
At the Lazimpat meeting, PM said: Deubaji said he cannot decide on the matter (impeachment motion) unilaterally. Deubaji said he will raise the issue at the party meeting, which will make a decison.
Responding to a query, Maoist Spokesperson Pampha Bhusal told Onlinekhabar: Deubaji has said that he cannot act alone and has promised to have the issue discussed at the party Central Working Committee meeting. We have received this much information.
The Lazimpat meeting of the Maoist party has entrusted Prachanda with the responsbility of holding further discussions with NC President Deuba on the impeachment motion.
Meanwhile, the NC is discussing the Lok Man issue at Thursday’s party meeting.
