PM Oli assures govt won’t deprive anyone of Covid-19 test and treatment

KP Sharma Oli

Kathmandu, October 23

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has assured that the government will not neglect any Covid-19 patient, adding the public will not be deprived of necessary test and treatment.

After the government decided to stop providing free test and treatment for anyone and to limit the service to the needy groups only, the government is under fire from stakeholders and the public. Therefore, Oli delivered an address to the nation on Friday afternoon to defend his decision.

Oli claimed some people were already willing to pay for their test and treatment, adding it was not the government’s neglect but their wish to contribute to the state. He was of the view that letting people who can pay and providing free services to the needy was logical.

The prime minister said the government was committed to ensuring Nepalis’ access to vaccines whenever they are available.

Oli also extended his Dashain greetings to the citizens, urging them to celebrate the festival indoors this time so as to protect themselves from the infection.
