Kathmandu, July 10
Parliament’s Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee has failed to reach a consensus regarding the formation of panel to investigate into the killing of a Netra Bikram Chand-led party cadre in Sarlahi recently .
Leaders of the opposition party Nepali Congress and Rastriya Janata Party obstructed House proceedings on Tuesday demanding a probe into the killing of Netra Bikram Chand (Biplav)-led cadre in a police encounter in Sarlahi.
NCP lawmaker Krishna Bhakta Pokharel, who is the committee’s chairman, on Wednesday proposed the formation of a sub-committee to investigate the killings. A consensus hasn’t been reached because lawmakers from the ruling party want to form a sub-committee to look into the case while opposition lawmakers want a parliamentary committee to step in.
