Parliament meeting postponed after UML’s obstruction threat

Kathmandu, May 14

The Parliament meeting scheduled for Thursday afternoon has been postponed till Friday after the main opposition CPN-UML warned that it would obstruct the meeting.

The UML along with 10 other parties have been demanding that ruling Nepali Congress and CPN-Maoist Centre withdraw the impeachment motion filed against Chief Justice Sushila Karki.

As the second alternative, the main opposition had demanded that Parliament put the motion to vote within next four to five days.

Whereas UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli had informed Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal about the party stance, party’s Chief Whip Bhanubhakta Dhakal reiterated the stance at the Business Advisory Committee meeting called by Speaker Onsari Gharti Magar.

After Dhakal’s adamance, the Speaker decided to postpone the meeting.
