The health condition of Paras Shah, the only son of former monarch Gyanendra Shah, is stable, but he is not out of danger, doctors tending to the formal royal said on Tuesday, a day after he was rushed to a hospital.

“Although his health condition is stable, he is not yet out of danger. He will remain in hospital for a few days,” Thapathali-based Norvic Hospital said in a statement.

Shah was rushed to Norvic after he complained of unbearable chest pain at around 16:15. The former crown prince was immediately administered a coronary angiogram after arteries were found to have been completely blocked. According to the hospital, a coronary stent was implanted on him. He is now recuperating at the hospital’s coronary care unit.

“When Shah arrived at the hospital, it appeared that saving his life would be very difficult. But fortunately, Dr Yadav Dev Bhatta was in the hospital when he arrived. His team put in a lot of effort to save Shah,” a hospital source said.

According to the hospital, Bhatta is leading a team of doctors which includes Dr JP Jaiswal, Dr Nagma Shrestha, Dr Santosh Shrestha, and Dr Prajwal Shrestha to look after Shah.

Meanwhile, former queen Komal, who was in Simara with her husband on a personal visit, returned to Kathmandu last night to visit her son at around 22:30 on Tuesday. Former king Gyanendra is in Simara and Paras Shah’s wife Himani is in Thailand.
