Panchthar massacre case will be solved soon: Home Minister

Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa says the truth behind the killing of nine people in Panchthar on Monday night will soon be made public.

Speaking at the National Assembly on Wednesday, Thapa said that that police were still investigating the case. He added that he has ordered officials to release a statement to inform the public about the incident.

A team comprising officers from the Central Investigation Bureau and Province 1 police has already reached Miklajung Rural Municipality.

Home Minister Thapa also informed that the government was concerned about the well being of 13-year-old Sita Khajum, who is being attended by doctors in a hospital in Damak.

Nine members of two families were murdered in Miklajung Rural Municipality in Panchthar, Province 1 on Monday night. Families of Dhanaraj Shorma and his father-in-law Bam Bahadur Phiyak were murdered using a sharp weapon.

Police also recovered the body of one of Man Bahadur Makhim hanging on a tree a few hours away from the incident. Makhim was the police’s prime suspect. The bodies have been sent to Dharan for postmortem.
