Over 14,000 prisoners escape nationwide,1,455 rearrested so far

Kathmandu, September 11

Out of the prisoners who escaped from prisons across the country, 1,455 have been arrested.

According to Nepal Police spokesperson and DIG Binod Ghimire, these 1,455 escapees were recaptured after breaking out of prisons and setting fires during the intensified Gen Z protests.

However, 12,852 prisoners are still on the run. In total, 14,507 inmates had escaped from prisons nationwide.

Likewise, 573 detainees have fled from police custody.
