Butwal, July 14
The Butwal-Palpa road section of Siddhartha Highway has been opened for one-way traffic after an obstruction of around 20 hours.
The road was blocked after a landslide in Tinau rural municipality-3 of Palpa district obstructed the road since 3pm on Saturday. One person was killed when the landslide buried a motorbike.
Hundreds of vehicles were obstructed on both sides of the landslide. Thousands of passengers were stranded halfway.
But, vehicles of both sides are sent to their destinations in turn after the resumption of movement at around 10:30 am today.
Police have said efforts are underway to resume the two-way operation.
